We are back for the second edition of Decor du Mois! This series started last month, and will be a monthly guest post collaboration with my friend Laura Cochran Nay. Last month we talked about how to get a bold powder room. It was probably my biggest post this year so far! Make sure to go check it out here.
This month we decided to focus on Valentine’s Day of course, with an emphasis on a Galentine’s celebrations. Originally we were going to pull some inspo from around the web for this post, but we ended up deciding to just go ahead and throw ourselves our own Galentine’s early celebration. Why not? Whether you’re single or taken, celebrating Valentine’s Day with your gals really sounds like a win, win to me!
If you don’t have any plans this weekend (or even if you do), I highly recommend putting together a last minute celebrations for your girls.
Here’s a quick guide for hosting your Galentine’s Celebration:
- Pick a theme. Do you want to go with sweet treats and dressy attire like we did? Or coffee and pjs for a casual vibe?
- Decide on a menu to go with your theme. If you decided to go with pastries and sweets like we did, just visit your favorite bakery and pick up some of your favorite items. A little more effort is involved in my heart shaped pancakes, but aren’t they the cutest? One other super inexpensive and easy idea I had was to make a pretty cereal bar! Put Lucky Charms, Frosted Flakes, + whatever cereals are your favorites out, with big spoons to scoop out. And make sure to get enough milk.
- Plan an activity. Whether it just be to catch up with everyone, play board games, or watch a movie, having a little activity in mind is always fun.
Later this week I will share step-by-step guides for how to recreate some of the things we did here. Stay tuned for that!
Special thank you to Laura for coordinating all of the decor and coming up with the theme! Also special thank you to Laura’s Mother-in-Law, Mrs. Nay, for letting us borrow her gorgeous dining room! (Obsessed!) And special thank you also to Janelle for capturing all the photos!! xo
Resources: TJ Maxx & Home Goods are a great resource for pretty cake stands, dishes, etc. Laura found some great goodies at Wal-Mart of all places for Valentine’s things – like this cookie decorating kit, which we used to make personalized place settings. The pink table runner is fabric from Hancock Fabrics, gathered at each end with a bow. More details & How-To’s later this week!
Love this post.
